The Giù a Sud project was launched in 2018 by the cultural enterprise Fabers with the aim of showcasing Southern Italy through its culinary traditions.

Today, the Giù a Sud bistro in the Sassi district of Matera—thanks in part to its central location within the city’s historic center—serves as an important gathering place for travelers and local residents alike.

We bring the region’s most authentic cuisine to the table, thanks to simple yet genuine recipes selected from a millennia-old tradition shaped by the many peoples with diverse culinary cultures who have passed through these lands.
